NEW SOLAR HOMES

Rocketts Landing in Richmond, VA is the Commonwealth’s first solar neighborhood. 45 homes will be constructed, all utilizing state of the art solar technology designed and installed by RES. The cost of power is estimated between $1 and $1.50 per day. The developer, Health E Community Enterprise, broke ground in February, 2014. All of the homes will be certified by EarthCraft Virginia.

At Rocketts Landing, RES designed all the solar modules that will be mounted flush with the roof of the home. Calculating the correct angle of the roof is dependent on the home’s latitude. In Richmond, Virginia, the perfect angle for the array is 31.6 degrees, or a 7:12 roof pitch.

From dawn to dusk, the sun traces a path through the southern sky so the best orientation is always due south with clear roof exposure—that is how Rocketts Landing is designed.

When you are considering solar power, be sure to consider the area around your home. Shade from trees and other structures will negatively impact the performance of a solar generation system. Rocketts Landing landscape plan avoids future shade problems with unobstructed southern exposures.

ROCKETTS LANDING ELEVATIONS

 

The Rockett is the most affordable 3-bedroom, 2-bath model offered by Health-E-Community. This one-story single-family Craftsman home features a large open kitchen between the dining area and large family room. The owner’s suite has a walk-in closet and full bath with double vanity sinks. Bedrooms #2 and #3 are located toward the rear of the home, conveniently across from the washer and dryer, and share the hall full bath. This model offers approximately 1,500 square feet of living space and has an attached two-car garage accessed from the rear alley.

THE ROCKETT

The Admiral model is our most affordable 3-bedroom, 2½-bath home. This two-story single-family Craftsman home features a large family room and open kitchen/bar with breakfast room. The owner’s suite has a spacious bathroom with double vanity and walk-in closet. Bedrooms #2 and #3 are located just steps from the full bath. The laundry closet is located on the second floor. This model offers approximately 1,700 square feet of living area and has an attached 1½-car garage accessed from the rear alley.

THE ADMIRAL

The Virginian model features 3-bedrooms and 2½ baths. This one-story single-family Craftsman home features a large family room with a separate dining room, and a spacious breakfast nook off the kitchen. The kitchen has a large pantry and plenty of counter space. The roomy master suite has a walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom with double vanity. A box bay is standard in the master suite. The Annabel is our most popular 4-bedroom, 2½-bath home featuring a formal living room, dining room, and family room.
